Tesco offers pet insurance discount
Tesco has announced that it is to offer a 40 per cent discount to people who take out pet insurance online before April 6th.
People with more than one pet will also be eligible for a further five per cent discount off their premium if they also insure their other animals with the provider.
The company pointed to recent research by Mintel, which found that a third of pet owners feel they cannot easily afford veterinary costs for their animals, as a reason to introduce the offer.
Allan Burns, the head of Tesco Pet Insurance, said: "We are offering a special discount to encourage pet owners to ensure their cat or dog is protected.
"Pet owners are responsible for ensuring their pets are kept healthy and happy and that includes picking up expensive vets fees if they've no insurance."
Research by Saga recently claimed that around one in seven claims made to them are due to dogs and cats being clumsy and finding themselves involved in road traffic accidents or falls.
